Lost car keys · Tampa, FL

Lost car keys in Tampa? New keys made where you’re parked.

When every key to the car is gone, you don’t need a tow or a dealer appointment. Zoom Locksmith is a mobile car locksmith: we drive to the car — your driveway, an apartment lot, a parking garage — make a brand-new key from scratch and program it so the car starts. Call with the VIN or the year, make and model for a free quote before we roll.

  • Mobile — we come to the car

All keys lost

No key left to copy?
That’s the job we do.

Copying a key you still have is simple. Losing every key is a different job: the car is stuck where you left it, and the usual advice is to tow it to a dealer and wait. You don’t have to. A new key can be made from the car itself, and the van carries what it takes — a key cutter for traditional and laser-cut keys, a transponder programmer, and blanks for nearly every modern make and model.

Making a key from nothing takes two steps: cutting the blade to match your door locks and ignition, and — on any car with a chip in the key — programming it to the car’s immobilizer so the engine will start. We do both on-site and test the key in the door and the ignition before we leave.

Lost a remote or a push-to-start smart key rather than a regular key? See key fob replacement & programming.

  • All keys lost — a new key made from scratch
  • Key codes pulled from the VIN or decoded from the lock
  • Transponder chip keys programmed to the car
  • Remote key fobs & push-to-start smart keys
  • Traditional & laser-cut blades
  • A spare cut on the same visit

How it works

From lost key
to a car that starts.

  1. 01

    Call with the car’s details

Give the dispatcher the year, make and model — or the VIN — plus where the car is parked and whether it’s turn-key or push-to-start. That’s enough for a free quote before anyone drives anywhere.

  2. 02

    We come to the car

The tech drives to wherever the car is: home, work, a campus lot, a garage. If the doors are locked, we open them without damage. Before any key is made, we’ll ask to see your ID and the registration.

  3. 03

The key is cut to your car

With no original to trace, the blade is cut from the key code — pulled using the VIN or found by decoding the lock — so it fits your doors and ignition.

  4. 04

    Programmed & tested

The chip or fob is programmed to the car’s immobilizer on-site. We test the doors, the start and the remote buttons with you. Want a spare? This is the easiest time to add one.

Before we arrive

What to have ready

A careful locksmith asks for these before making a key to any car.

  • A photo ID, with a name that matches the registration or title.
  • The vehicle registration or title, to show the car is yours.
  • The VIN. It’s on the registration and your insurance card, on the dash at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side, and on the driver’s door-jamb sticker.
  • The year, make and model, and whether it’s a turn-key or push-to-start car.
  • The exact spot where the car is parked — garage level, lot row or building.
  • Any partial key you still have, like a valet key or a broken blade.

Pricing

What affects the price

Every car key is quoted on its own. What moves the number:

  • The kind of key: a basic chip key, a remote key fob or a push-to-start smart key.
  • The blade: a traditional cut or a laser-cut (high-security) key.
  • Whether any working key exists — a copy is simpler than a key from scratch.
  • The year, make and model, which decide the blank and the programming.
  • How many keys you want — a spare on the same visit saves a second trip.

Call with the VIN or the year, make and model and the dispatcher quotes the job up front, free. The quote is what you pay — no trip fee and no surprise charges at the curb.

Mobile across Tampa Bay

Wherever the car is,
that’s the shop.

Keys go missing in the worst places: a beach lot, a stadium lot after a game, the far end of a shopping center. Because we’re mobile, where you lost the key is where we make the new one. Our Tampa locksmith service page covers the city’s neighborhoods — Downtown, Ybor, Hyde Park, Westshore — and the links below cover the rest of the bay.

Keys locked inside the car rather than lost? That’s a lockout, not a replacement — our emergency locksmith line opens cars without damage, Monday through Saturday, 8am to 8pm.

FAQ

Quick answers about
lost car key replacement in Tampa.

Yes. That’s an all-keys-lost job: we get the key code from the VIN or by decoding the lock, cut a new blade, and program the chip or fob to the car — all on-site, wherever the car is parked.

A photo ID and the registration or title for the car, with names that match. A new key is full access to the car, so it’s a step any careful locksmith takes. Have the VIN handy too — it’s on the registration and the insurance card.

It depends on the car. When every key is lost, the code has to be pulled or the lock decoded before cutting, and push-to-start fobs take programming time — a copy from a working key is the quicker job. The dispatcher gives you a live ETA when you call.

Yes. A car that uses a plain metal key only needs the blade cut — no programming. We cut it from the key code or by decoding the lock.

We’re open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 8pm, and closed Sundays — no overnight crews. If it happens outside those hours, leave the car safely parked and call when we open at 8am the next open day. If a child or a pet is locked in a vehicle, call 911 right away.
